The homies over at StreetEtiquette have changed the fashion game for good by making things like accessories and attention to detail FASHIONABLE for men in 21st Century America. We have jumped on the bandwagon, and as summer comes to a close (well, there’s about a month left), we will share with you some pieces that can translate well into the fall season. For the first installment we will look at the oxford shirt and the chino pant. StreetEtiquette’s signature write-ups feature some history on each article of clothing, so here’s an excerpt on the origin of the styles.
The oxford shirt serves as a nice median between formal and casual. Its the perfect shirt to roll up and wear casually during the summer. The shirt gets its name from the type of fabric used to make it; Oxford cloth was originated in Great Britain during the 19th century; Chino pants first gained popularity in the U.S after the Spanish-American War when soldiers brought back their cotton trousers. These Chino pants were first made in China, hence the name Chino, a Spanish word which translates to Chinese.
As you can see there’s definitely some history behind these articles of clothing, but nonetheless, these two articles of clothing in combination will give you a solid look that can be taken seriously all year without sacrificing comfort. Dust off your favorite pair of boat shoes and suit up! Keep reading to see more pictures of oxfords and chinos.

LOUDreams spent some time in New York, so you know we had to see the Tim Burton exhibit at the MOMA. All glorious plans of capturing the magic of the exhibit in detail for our fabulous fans to see were dismissed by a man who angrily pointed to the twenty NO PHOTOGRAPHY signs, but no matter! It would have probably been impossible to effectively deliver the intent via film anyway. It was honestly an experience: rooms of artwork from Burton’s high school days, letters to and from Disney editors rejecting his early work, The Killers video Bones on loop next to a model of Stainboy’s house, a life-size model of Edward from Edward Scissorhands, preliminary sketches for the Alice in Wonderland movie, analyses of the anatomy of a martian from Mars Attacks, everything from favorites like Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice, and odd concept drawings of stories with names like “Little Dead Riding Hood: A suspenseful tale of torment and demon possession.”
One word comes to mind: sick.

Last night we had the pleasure of witnessing Phoenix rock the house at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, CA. Shows in LA have always brought dilemmas our way. We encountered almost getting into an accident with Santa Claus, getting lost because there is always construction on the 5 freeway, and almost losing an ID at will call. With all problems bombarding us at the same time, it all dissipated once Phoenix opened with Lisztomania. At that moment everyone was on the same page, bobbing their heads, screaming till their lungs bled, and swaying both hands in the air. The show as a whole was flawless. Having a psychedelic light show, being at the historic Greek Theater, and hearing the harmony of great music played at once, I could say that Phoenix played a perfect show. If your looking for a good time with some quality tunes, be sure to check Phoenix out on tour.

Having the opportunity to see the long awaited Terminator Salvation opening night was quite a treat. The movie was a financial hit the first night, and was visibly seen with long lines at local theaters. The movie presented a great deal of action and stunning visual effects, which was highly successful at keeping fans captivated in their seats. Although the movie was aesthetically pleasing visually, it failed to capture the essence of the original films which was somewhat of a disappointment. If your looking for raw enjoyment, give this movie a watch…

This past week we had the pleasure of being the lucky few to witness Meg and Dia perform at the Hot Topic store in Irvine. The showcase presented a sense of true musicianship.
The band played a raw acoustic set without the hassle of any electronics, mics, or amplifiers. The performance was truly amazing and intimate, only playing for 30 dedicated fans who were fortunate to have a brief meet and greet, as well as autographs from the band.
If you missed your chance to see Meg and Dia during this performance, they will be playing at The Strand on Saturday, May 16 at Huntington Beach, CA. They will also be promoting their new album, Here, Here and Here… on the upcoming Vans Warped Tour as well.
