This is some amazing work from Glenn Brown. He brings abstract art and combines it with a connotation of human life as he sees it. See more of his work after the jump:

I have a been a HUGE fan of Glenn Brown’s paintings since I first saw them about 10 years ago. In fact, he is my favorite living artist. Being a photographer I see the limitations of the medium that I work in, every time I look at his paintings. He is a modern day master – he is hugely inspiring.
I think this work, just like Hirst et al, is just garbage. it isn’t art nor is he a master. Real painting masters are classical realists. this is a perfect example of someone getting in with the “right” gallery and all the social climbers who HAVE to own the latest crap promoted by some sensationalist.
Beautiful. I love the combination of portraiture and abstraction. Because they are presented as a human portrait I find myself trying to make sense of them as faces. I think Brown is purposely breaking with the expectations that the viewer has of abstraction and portraiture.
As for m Shelly’s comment, you should get in a time machine and go back to the 18th century. You’ll be more comfortable there.
